Indiana Legislation Would Close Sex-Trafficking Loopholes

An Evening With Royalty: CARP Winter Ball Surpasses Expectations

The third annual CARP Winter Ball, billed as “A Royal Affair,” drew nearly double the number of participants as last year and rave reviews from attendees. The gala on Dec. 30, 2011 was attended by more than 900 Unificationists from around the United States as well as overseas to kick of the New Year in the Hammerstein Ballroom of the Manhattan Center.

Rev. Hyung Jin Moon Returns to North Korea To Offer Condolences

Shortly after returning from Pyongyang, North Korea where he commemorated the 20th anniversary of Rev. Sun Myung Moon's meeting with President Kim Il Sung, Rev. Hyung Jin Moon, the International President of the Unification Church and Chairman of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) International, traveled back to Pyongyang on December 24, 2011 to pay his respects to the late Kim Jong Il.

Trafficking Activist Speaks at Bay Area Church to Urge Ballot Initiative

More than 100 people from all faiths, including six Christian ministers, gathered Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Bay Area Family Church to hear Women’s activist Daphne Phung speak about the "Hope for Ending the Atrocity of Human Trafficking in California." Phung is the founder of California Against Slavery (CAS), a non-profit, non-partisan human rights organization focusing on putting an end to human sex trafficking. This issue was brought to the attention of the Unification Church community a few months ago by Mrs. Pat Defletsen and Mrs. Makiko Watanabe, who helped to hold the event at the monthly Community of Faith Prayer breakfast at the Bay Area location of Lovin’ Life Ministries.

Freedom Riders Hailed by Supporters at Georgia State Capitol

Two young Unificationists on a cross-country bicycle trip got a warm welcome at the Georgia State Capitol on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011. A press event hosted by Georgia State Sen. Donzella James at the State Capitol building welcomed John Seijin Tranberg, 22, and Joshua Wildman, 21, of Los Angeles, who are doing the 2,300 mile trip under the banner of “Faith, Family, and Freedom.” Tranberg explained that he was doing the exhausting trip to call attention to the faith-breaking persecution of his fellow Unificationists in Japan which goes on under the noses of Japanese police and without the enforcement of laws that guarantee freedom of religion for all citizens.
